ONE LESS COVID-FREE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

ANGWIN, Calif., July 15, 2022  -----  The list of countries of the world which are COVID-free has been reduced by one.
One recently, widely published report lists Turkmenistan and Tuvalu as the only two COVID-free countries, but Pitcairn Island officials say their island has never before had a COVID case.
In a report to the Pitcairn Islands Study Center here today, a Pitcairn islander says that a passenger arriving aboard the island’s cargo-passenger ship Silver Supporter has been tested positive by island health officials upon landing at the patient’s request. Now the infected arrival must go into isolation as also must the seven other arrivals.
“We knew this would happen sooner or later,” the islander said.  “All those arriving had negative tests. So much for the negative tests pre-arrival.”
Because it hoped to remain COVID free, Pitcairn had stopped all ship calls from the outside world, which was a near-mortal blow to the island’s economy. This COVID presence on the island now extends that difficult time for this tiny South Pacific Island which was made famous world-wide by the “Mutiny on the Bounty” incident in the late 1700s.
The telling of the mutiny incident has spawned five Hollywood-type movies, hundreds of books, and thousands of magazine articles.
